New York based music producer, DJ and artist Matthew Dear is holding an interactive exhibition this week at New Museum’s ‘Inc Space’.
The installation called ‘Delqa’ is a collaborative effort bringing together a range of artists, designers and developers as part of a recently established incubator program.
Using an advanced Microsoft Kinect set up, Delqa takes one of Dear’s tracks and de-constucts it into the physical form of the gallery space and allows users to experience and control the musical arrangement by way of interaction with materials and light. Dear wants exhibition visitors to immerse themselves in the music and create something that has never been done before. It really is exciting to see electronic music artists with broad appeal experimenting with technology like this.
